Zevia Soda
Although I pretty much stick to water, kombucha, and tea, I have found a soda I like that doesn't have any sugar (or calories). It’s called Zevia and comes in the common soda flavors (cola, root beer, ginger ale, etc.). As the name implies Zevia is sweeten with stevia (a plant extract that is very sweet) which has no sugar or calories. In other words it’s a guilt free soda.

Reebok Lifting Shoes
Once again I follow admit I have a shoe problem, but as someone who has recently returned to traditional weight lifting I have to mention these lifting shoes. Lifting shoes provide a nice wide flat surface and a little bit of heel boost making lifts like squats and deadlifts feel (for lack of better word) easier. For years I always thought lifting shoes were another gimmick but after trying out a pair from reebok, I had an “oh I get it moment” when suddenly I hit a personal best in the squat.
Trainingpeaks

I have been using triainingpeaks online software everyday for over 5 years now. I simply love it. For those of you who have never tried trainingpeaks, it’s basically an interactive calendar for tracking and planning workouts. I use it to organize and record all my training, as well as the athletes I coach.

Fixed Gear Bikes
Fixed gear bikes or “fixies” are road bikes stripped to the bare minimum with a “fixed” rear wheel. Meaning there is no coasting mechanism so you can’t stop pedaling. The benefit of this is you feel more attached to the pedals and regulate speed through your pedal stroke. Additionally you don't need a brake (but I would recommend one for saftey reasons) as you can simply push backwards on the pedals to slow down or stop. Look around YouTube sometime to see messengers on fixed gear bikes going through a city to get a better understanding of this. Way before I got into triathlon and road bike racing, I was a pretty serious “fixie” rider and builder. In fact, I've probably build and rode over a dozen different fixed gear bikes before finding triathlon. Now almost 6 years since switiching to geared bikes, I’ve come back to my roots and returned to building and riding fixies. The freedom and simplicity of them have really brought back the joy and freedom of cycling that I feel I lost over years of sitting in the aero position on my triathlon bike for hours.
