After having fun with fitness for a weeks and jumping into a triathlon on a wimp, my motivation sparked me back into some serious training. I signed up for a unique race which involved swimming, kettlebell thrusters, burpees, and finishes with a trail run. This event is called the "X-fit" challenge and is put on by a local crossfit as a part of series of endurance competitions over a weekend called "granite man". I will be doing the X-fit challenge Saturday morning and a 10 mile trail race on Sunday. Needless to say with back-to-back events, I had my work cut out for me.

I should also mention I recently fell back in love with cycling. Even though there was no cycling in the events I would be doing, I couldn't help but get on the bike a few days a week!

PLAN LENGTH: May 4th- June 14th (6 weeks)

GOALS:

  • Get really good at burpees and kettlebell thrusters

  • Improve endurance running fitness

  • Get back in the pool!

OBJECTIVES:

  • Conduct 2-3 swim workouts a week

  • Conduct 1 long interval run a week.

  • Conduct 1 hill focused run a week

  • Conduct 1 kettlebell thruster/burpee workout a week

  • As always practice daily mobility work.

  • Get on the bike as desired

WEEKLY PLAN:

Monday: 20-30min Swim workout

Tuesday: 50-75min Long run

Wednesday: 1-2 hours of bike commuting

Thursday: 30-45min Kettlebell thruster/ burpee workout

Friday: 20-30min Swim workout and 20-30min hill run workout

Saturday: Long group ride

Sunday: Easy bike ride with the wife

Wish me luck on my races this weekend! Stay up to date on my Facebook page.
